Noticed something odd. The Ducati 2007 spare parts PDF found here states that the correct part number for the oil filter is 444.4.303.4A

However, after performing my first service, I found that the originally installed filter was 444.4.017.1A

Anyone else notice this? I'm inclined to believe that the parts PDF is incorrect since the Hypermotard uses the same 017 filter. Seems like a revision for 07-08 models?

oil filters

Don't know about the part numbers but they are the same as the filters for my 916 and the 999r. I just ordered four of them from Seattle Ducati and they were the same as the ones I already had for the other bikes, I did check the numbers and they were the same. I am not home so I can't verify the numbers, sorry.

I have one sitting out my house and can double check when I get home.

doh! i typo'd, 444.4.003.4A like you said Jason. Sagerider, i'm guessing the filter you use on your 916 and 999r are also the 003.4A type.

Really starting to wonder if the dealer i bought the bike from f'd up. I noticed that the 017.1A filter was actually longer by about 1/2 inch and had 2 more holes on the top for oil flow. Same thread and diameter though.

I double checked this morning for you and 444.4.003.4A is what the dealer gave me.

You need a small oil puller to get them off and I found it a little troublesome to remove because there's not that much room to fit the puller on. Even so it doesn't grip it too well either, so it requires some effort.

I ended up going with K&N oil fiters, they're a bit more free flowing (at least thats what they say) and the nice thing about them is the botton has a molded nut on it, so you can use a rachet to loosen or tighten...Incase anyone is wondering the K&N partnumber is KN-153. I didn't find a price difference either.

Wanted to follow up with DNA's response in case anyone in the future has the same question.

Thank you for contacting Ducati North America. Part number 44440171A was the original oil filter part number. That number
has been superseded by 44440034A.
cheers
