I've been following this forum and a few others for about 10 months now and have finally come to a conclusion. I need to ride a 1098 to see if I like it enough to get one. That leads me to my question. Where can I ride one. Are there dealers out there that actually let customers ride these expensive machines? I'm in the Memphis TN area and the closest dealer is in Nashville. I havn't called to ask them yet. Thanks for the help.

The question is not a matter of if you can test ride the 1098, it's more of a matter of who has one available as a Demo for you to do so. Taking into consideration the (still) high demand for the bike, you won't find many sitting around on showroom floors or as demos. From what I've seen and heard, 9 out of 10 that come into dealers are sold before they hit the showroom floor. So, IMO it may be a little tough to find one you can demo as of right now. You'll most likely have better luck finding a friend with a 1098 who may let you go for a ride...

I've never heard of anyone getting a demo ride on one. Mine will be for sale this week. I'm in Atlanta.

I suppose it's like the last three cars I bought, special order only - nobody has one in-stock so forget about a test drive. If you have to test-ride a 1098x to decide, then you should move onto something else, something mass produced.

Thanks for the input.

P.S. Actually these things are in dealerships all over, I saw one last month. I read all over this bike is a different breed and it IS suggested buyers new to twins ride one before buying. Special order yourself some security. Then perhaps you won't feel the need to boast about how well off you are. Get a clue and [email protected]$% off.

If you cant find a demo to test ride from a dealer, you might want to just see in the local paper for a private seller. Most bikes Ive bought were used and Ive never had a problem from a seller letting a potential buyer take their bike out for a test ride. Umm, just dont tell them to get a clue and F$#$% off, LOL

Wow that's pretty encouraging...not only will the guy not find a bike to test-ride, but he gets dissed in the place where he comes for pre-purchase information and support.

It might be worth the flight to go ride one.

If I needed to ride one before buying, I would consider it money well spent.

For the record, once I heard one in person, I HAD to have one. PERIOD!

I appreciate the feedback guys/girls. I saw a black S at my not so local dealer and thought it was heaven on earth. They even let us start her up and yes, she sounded even better then I thought. Any recording I found online did nothing for it. Thanks again. I hope to add one to my registry by Christmas!

I got to sit on one at Del Amo Motorsports because I know a sales guy who works there. He took me to that back and I had a seat on a 1098,,, wow. What a difference from the 999. It felt so much lighter and more compact. Pics on the web don't do the 1098 any justice.
