$25K? Why is it only worth $25K in your opinion? It used by far the best materials: sandcast cylinder heads and crankcases, titanium conrods, forged aluminium pistons etc., It was the first R to be fitted with 8-stage traction control, DDA and a slipper clutch. It weighed 3kgs less than the factory race bike (165kgs) and put out over 140KW with the full system (the 1098S was only 119KW). And it was 1198cc (as opposed to the 1098/S). The tail section is all carbon, as is the belly pan and numerous other components. It won the WSBK Championship in 2008 and again in 2011. Ducati made less 1098Rs than they did Desmocedicis. So it is a very rare, special bike, that was very different in power and spec to the rest of the 1098 family. Unlike the Panigale.. Finally, it was the last of the trellis frame, dry clutch Superbikes. I think all that makes my asking price very reasonable. Time will tell..
