Sigh and I got to find out.

Laguna yesterday morning, must have been a slick spot in corner 6 - after I lead some newbies around for sighting laps I got to run a few solo laps - my second solo lap (5th lap overall) at a very moderate still warmup pace I low-sided.

The axle sliders, underbody slider and Sato rearset stopped any rim/fork/mechanical damage.

However, every piece of body work accept for the right side panels and fenders was damaged.

Left side is completely trashed, whole in the left tail, windscreen fairing was ripped off (Puig screen was intact but has gravel rash).

What a bummer.

Ill tell you what though, I take sick pleasure in doing the butt-luge across the track. Something disturbingly fun in painlessly sliding along. :)
Even if I was crying while listening the sickening sounds coming from the bike crumpling along in front of me.

Ouch

I echo the "blows" statement. Nothing more sickening than hearing that scraping sound on asphalt.

I have heard very, very mixed results with all sorts of sliders.

Could you take some pictures? Not to revel in your agony mind you, I would just like to survey the damages.

Sorry to hear about your bike, but I'm glad you're okay.

Dave,

Sorry to hear about your mishap. It’s VERY unnerving to a newbie, like me, to hear of someone with infinitely more experience and skill laying one down. At least your protoplasm is intact.

Cheers,

Sorry for your loss man....and your soon to be lighter wallet....:). Just goes to show new riders though that things can happen in the blink of an eye through no fault of your own. Be careful out there folks.

No pics - piled it in my truck and drove it straight to the dealership. It sickened me a bit to look at.

My leathers did their job - so no injuries - just bruised ego.

I was just disappointed at how easily parts exploded - my r6 at much higher speeds lowsided with minimal to no damage (also Laguna, December - but late afternoon - corner 5).

Ill see if I can take pics for folks at some point.

Well at least I dont have to worry about the first scratch anymore. :)

Does the insurance covers the damage of a track accident or they have guidelines about that?

Oh man... Sorry to hear it. Wonder if it will be harder to get Tri-Color plastics?

So sorry to hear about your low-side but I know *exactly* what you mean when you're sliding and hearing your bike sliding on the asphalt.

I low-side my 749 and the entire left side was rashed...it took me 1 week to be able to look at it and take pictures.

Your experience makes me think I should get some axle sliders...even though my 1098 will be a street-only bike.

Well I got to hang it to you though, it takes real balls or a large wallet to track a 25+K bike my friend.

As much as it hurts, take some pix when ya get time and post them up.

...and here's to hoping she gets fixed soon!
