Considering scrapping my baby-'13 848 Special Edition...just wondering what I can expect to get for the engine doing 6500miles....

Not a track bike

Not my first choice but used 848's don't seem to be selling in my parts.

Thanks

They go from 1200-1500 it's just en EVO motor I believe...

I've purchase two used eBay motors (2008 non EVO 6k miles & a 2012 EVO 2k miles) with 6 month warranties.

If you are selling private (no warranty) I suspect you will not get as much. Ymmv

Enhancements to the liquid-cooled, 849cc 90-degree V-Twin include new Marelli throttle bodies with larger elliptical bores feeding revised cylinder heads with straighter intake ports and reshaped combustion chambers. This, along with a new piston-crown profile, has delivered a substantial increase in compression ratio, from 12.0:1 to 13.2:1. Intake-valve lift is up from 11.5 to 13.0mm with 4 degrees more duration. The 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust now uses twin lambda O2 sensors said to help achieve mandated emissions levels. Ducati claims a 6-hp increase, bringing output to 140 measured at the crank.

Honestly and I'm not knocking your statement but his is my experience.

The 2008 non EVO was a direct swap to my entire bike not one difference. Airbox, exhaust etc. absolute plug and play even the ECU. I personally felt no difference in Hp, speed or torque. And I even went back to my original year with an EVO with 2k miles felt the same.

But yes what you stated is as advertised.

Probably right that I bet nobody could tell the difference of ~4% hp increase. I think the bigger thing was raising the rev limit and giving it better top end. But it's a trade off for more mid range of the original 848. Then you confuse things even more with adding slip on vs full systems which have similar results as with the engines.

That being said I would look for the newest model year engine in your price range.
