Ducati hit their mark with the 1098 just like Honda did with the undertail exhaust on the 600RR. I think you are going to see a lot of companies trying to copy the looks of the 1098 in more than one way.

The "08 CBR1000RR doesn't look anything like the 1098, it just looks like crap.

The 1098, however, did do a good job of incorporating number of design elements from other makes/models. Check out the basic front fairing and headlight design of the xb12r. Look familiar?

Yeah...I hear you. I had one of the original Eric Buell designs. It was a rough effort, but they are getting better. The '08 1125R is a giant leap forward in performance. The design? Still in transition, but as with all Buells, very original. I tend to give Buell a little more leeway because it's the only sportbike offering we have.

It seems the more modern and futurstic the Jap bikes look, the worse they look. The Honda looks like a 4th grader designed it, the ZX10 looks ok, but both look too angular and sharp.

Most modern bikes take styling cues from the 916, but I don't see a resemblance between the new Honda and the 1098 or the 916. Not unless the designer was a 4 year old trying to draw a motorcycle for the first time.
