So I could use a little input from some of you guys/girls here. With a fresh battery in the bike, and all connections clean and tight, when I press the start button all I get is the click of the starter relay. When I jumper the two terminals on the starter relay I get nothing from the starter and no spark. This leads me to think that the starter motor has an open circuit. When press the starter button I get no voltage change at the battery and lights don't dim at all. Another thing that makes me think that the starter is toast is that I tried to jump the starter directly from my truck battery. Disconnected the positive wire from the bike starter relay to the starter post. Grounded truck battery to bike motor and starter body. Had a positive cable connected to truck battery, and touched the other end of that cable to bikes starter post. No spark and no sounds from the starter. Would you all say that the starter is most likely bad?

Thanks for all input......

Just an update on my situation. 2009 Ducati 1198 with about 8500 miles on it. Not a track bike. Bike has been in the shop for 2 months. The entire starter and all starter related components need to be replaced. If that wasn't enough, when the starter components were failing some shaft or rod associated with the starting system wallowed out the engine case on the bike. Total repair cost to the bike is over $3000. The warranty company is now stating that they need to send an inspector out to look at the bike to make a decision on the repair. Has anyone seen starter problems to this degree on the 848/1098/1198 bikes? Any insight on dealing with a warranty company on a bill this size? Any help is appreciated.
