Fuel tank is the same for all 848, 1098, 1198 superbikes.
For all 2008-13 models ?? So I can buy any one ?Fuel tank is the same for all 848, 1098, 1198 superbikes.
Yes, but do yourself a favor and get an aluminum one that won't react with ethanol and deform like all the plastic ones did.For all 2008-13 models ?? So I can buy any one ?
okay a stupid question - Coming from an R1 and the 1199... I haven't heard of the tank expanding issuesI think technically in 2012 weren't they making the tanks smaller as a half assed solution to expansion issues? Mine's a 2012 and while I don't think it has expanded... Maybe it did and I just didn't notice. So If you get an off the shelf 2012 or 13 it may have slightly less capacity.
Awesome, thanks for the offer. Pm sentI have a BARELY busted fairing stay you can have for free if you pay for shipping. It's OEM and is missing a small portion that's literally maybe an inch that holds the bolt closest to the rider. With a washer it works fine... It'll get you on your way for the time being and down the road you can get a better one.
I haven't swapped it out for the new one that I have yet but you're welcome to it.
I'll probably get to the swap next week.
I want to see the tank after I get it but that rash is going to bother me for the rest of my life. I do plan on using the bike for the track so im still undecidedMelvin, if thats only cosmetic damage to the right side of the tank, i'd leave it be.
Oh so I should stick to the older ones if possible. The tanks all fit the same. My 13' had the tank replaced and it is different. It is not alluminum either. They key guard area is skinnier and contour is different from the original. My carbon fiber key guard that goes below the rubber factory key surround does not fit due to a different design from the new tank style vs old.
They didn't fix anything. All they did was make a slightly smaller tank using the same shitty material with the theory that it would still fit even after it expanded. The problem is that it still deforms, looks like crap, and can leak if an inner line breaks.okay a stupid question - Coming from an R1 and the 1199... Oh I see. I would love to get an aluminum tank but cost to performance is pretty low. I can get 5 regular tanks for that price. I hate to say this but the tank costs more than what I paid for the bike. They didn't fix anything. You're 1000% better off with an aluminum tank.
That is most definitely a safety hazard and ducati should have done a mass recall and replaced all the tanks !! The worst case scenario always sounds bad but in this case it can be avoided.Funny (maybe not-so-funny) story about the plastic tank issue...
A couple years ago I walked into my garage to find a huge puddle of gas under my bike. Naturally I was like WTF but I couldn't find anything obviously wrong. Turned out an interior fuel line had broken due to the deforming tank problem, causing a fuel leak if the tank was more than about 2/3 full.:wtf:
I'm just glad it didn't dump gas onto a hot exhaust pipe while I was on the bike traveling at 70mph or something. In typical Ducati fashion, DNA offered to replace the defective piece for free but refused to allow me to pay the cost difference for an upgrade to the aluminum corse tank. So while I did get another tank, it's just a matter of time until it fails too. Only this time it won't be within the warranty period.
