As previously posted in this forum, I am new to Ducati bikes and have recently purchased a 999R (which I love). But this question is actually about the 749 bikes. A local dealer has a 749 that a friend of mine is looking at. I honestly do not know much in the way of specifics on this particular bike, but I am going to go look at it with him in a couple of days. Anything in particular that we should be looking for?

749 tips

Hi, apart from the service history I would be lookng to see if it came with Termi's. Also, the 2004 models onwards had a higher fairign and different swinging arm and the s model had more power and better susprnsion. If I were to look for a 749 i would start with the following, and expect everything else to be perfect - it is a buyer's markert:
1. 2004 onwards
2. S or R model
3. Termi's fitted

One final thing, the 749 benifit from lower gearing so if one is purchased lower the gearing and use the rev's a great bike.

The 749 needs to go down 1 front and up 2 rear on the sprockets to make it a fun ride. The Remus exhaust sounds the best on that bike too. My buddies 749 is louderthan my 1098 with termi's... The S model is definitly a big plus.
