So, I am about to get the ball rolling on a Pearl White 848. I want to put my money down and make it happen, but I want to also have some options installed at the dealer prior to pickup. I was wondering if any of you guys can give me an idea of how much this may run me:

-Ohlins Fork
-Ohlins Rear shock
-Ohlins Steering Damper
-Full Termo Carbon exhaust.

Just any ballpark ideas?

Adam,

The Full Termi System for the 1098 lists for $2,760.00 dollars. The 848 system will likely be priced about the same.

It will cost about $5,000.00, (or more, depending on the Ohlins shocks you opt for), to ugrade to Ohlins suspension. IMO, this is not an upgrade you should invest in. While the Showe suspension is not as good as the Ohlins, the Showe suspension is more than adequate to handle your needs. You're a novice, and not yet in need of racing suspension. Also it's likely that, (as with the 1098), Ducati will release an "S" model for the 848, which will come stock with Ohlins suspension for far less than it will cost to upgrade a base model.

well said Elton.... There is no need for upgrades outside of maybe an exhaust.. However, if you wreck 5k for shocks 3K for an exhaust it would be a real waste.. I keep saying your money will be better spent on items such as Safety classes/ track days. Are you trying to include this as part of a financing package?. The sometimes do not let you add 8k over the value of the MSRP.
All this talk about forks, but no talk about gear. Will you be wearing any Gear?

The best money you could spend on your suspension is $40 getting it set up for you by a pro. When you can outride the stock components, then look to upgrade.
+1. The stock Showa components are still excellent. Once my bike (07 1098) was set up it literally transformed it.

I'm waiting to get my 1098 forks back from RaceTech. They said the forks are really good from the factory. The biggest problem is the springs are setup with no preload so the adjusters don't do anything. I checked my sag, cranked the preload up all the way, checked it again and it made zero difference. I sent them the forks and they are installing their new cartridges and springs. I should have the bike back together on Wednesday. If it ever stops raining in this desert, I'll be able to test it out.

I'm with alaska848, its amazing the difference once a true suspension guy gets ahold of your stock shocks and sets them up for you, and a very cheap mod as well.

Do you have a recomendation for a setup guy in the bay area? I'm looking to get this done once my shocks settle and my break in is over.
