Hello to everyone... nice to see a forum like this.

I was tryng to find out about a red 1098 S, and the guys at Proitalia told me about the waiting list being so long, if Im lucky probably I will get it at the end of October...

Two days later I visit them and they had a tricolore available, I wasn't sure about it because the color, so I told them I will come back next day.
so, thinking about it overnight I decided to go for it.

next day I showed up and the guys told me that one hour later after I left, a guy came to the store to buy a shirt, and he started learning about the bike... He bougth it...
I was really mad, the chance to get it was gone.

A day after I decided to showed up and left a deposit for the next available, that would probably be by the end of this year.
When I got there the guys told me that someone dropped another deal and the Tricolore was available for me to buy it.

It's an amazing Bike... someone told me that it is probably a collectors bike.
can someone tell me more about it I will really apreciated any information.

Luis,

Your information is correct. The TriColore, (TC), is a limited edition, collectors' model, which is only available this year. For the '08 production run, there will (probably) be no TC. Exact production numbers from Ducati are notoriously unreliable, but production run for the '07 TC will be somewhere between 150 to 300 units. After that, there will (probably) be no more.

This will be the 3rd time Ducati has offered a limited production, Italian flag, "TC", paint scheme during the first year of a model run. In 1985, Ducati offered the F1 750 in a limited edition "TC" paint scheme. (The F1 750 Tricolore was also available as a limited edition "TC" in model years 1986 and 1987.) This was followed in 1988 by a limited edition "TC" 851. Here's a couple of links to see what they look like:

On the heels of the success of the 1098s TC, Ducati released a TC Monster for model year '08. Like all other TCs, the TC monster is a limited edition model, available only as an upgrade to the top-of-the-line monster, the S4RS. Here's a link to the TC monster:

http://www.ducati.com/en/bikes/my2007/ModelPage.jhtml?family=Monster&model=MS4RSTRICOLORE-08

TCs are very collectable. Some collectors buy them and never remove them from their crate, preserving them as true concourse bikes. There is currently a TC preserved like this on display inside a plexiglass crate at Martin Eurosports. There's a picture of it in my album if you're interested.

That's the problem with the TC. It's so collectable it almost defies mounting. And 25 thousand dollars is a whole lot of money to spend on a bike you're never gonna ride!

If you can afford it, buy two: An "S" model to ride, and a TC to store for later. That way, 30 years from now, when you sell the TC, it'll pay for the '07 "S" model and the brand new '37 Ducati you will no doubt have fallen in love with!

Peace, Elton

Apolo, I have a Tricolore also. I'd deposited on the 98s model the end of last year, delivery came late so I was sceptical in taking it as summer here you really can't ride too much as it's way too hot. Anyway they sold the regular 98s and told me to wait they're bringing 1 x Tricolore, "a bit more $'s but it'll be worth the extra later" they stated. They're right, even now I get offers over and above what I've paid for it. Remember also the bike comes with Termi's and gold racing wheels also as standard. Truely a remarkable bike. Me, I'm going to ride mine every moment I get.

Hey, good advice, but way too late for some of us. I had one of the first TC's in the UK, but hit diesel on a roundabout and high-sided big style just over 3 weeks ago.

Me in cast with fracture to tibial plateau, bike total write-off........BUT, call me lucky, I've managed to get hold of what is probably the last Tricolore available in the UK :yo:

Hi,

First post,

I have a 1988 851 tricolour. It is the 'factory kit' version with the twin injectors, braced swingarm and alloy tank. I tried a 'search' on the forum but did not have any luck. Are there any other owners out there?
Thats a cool looking bike bro..

Qoute kel999 "Go shopping in Perth WA??......"

or Brisbane (AUS). I was in my preferred dealer the other day and they had 3 TC's for sale.

There were 2 blokes with car and trailer there to pick one up.

They drove from Sydney to get it. Thats 500 miles for all you imperial non-Aussies.

After seeing them in the flesh..... I think I like the look of them better than the rest.

I believe there may be some Tricolores around. You may want to try Spectrum Motorcycles in Irvine.
There was one still on the sales floor 5 hours ago... And DAMN they are beautiful in person!
