hey everyone! i was curious how many tall 1098/1198 riders there are out there? I,m getting ready to purchase my first ducati and am doing as much research as possible coming from only ever riding Japanese bikes. I am 6'2 about 220lbs (planning on dropping a few lbs lol) mainly wondering about comfort issues, and not wanting to look like a monkey humping a football on it. feed back would be greatly appreciated or if your similar in height and can post up some pics so i can kinda compare.

thanks! :ahhh:

No modern sports bike is going to make you look small.
They are far less cramped in the legs area than my jap bikes were but the bars a low so it is a bit of weight on the wrists. I just use my legs to hold on and it's fine.
I am 6' 2", 92kg and 55yo.

I'm 6'3 and had a couple of 848's (now ride a Panigale). My thoughts are that being tall makes these bikes MORE comfortable for us. We are not as stretched out as a shorter rider.

I would suggest getting a comfort seat however. While it adds some height to the saddle area, it still allowed me two flat feet on the ground at stops. But ever so slightly changed the angle of my knees on the pegs. No regrets

I am 6'2" 210 and I ride my 1098S and fit fine. I have owned a lot of bikes and I feel comfortable on it and all I do is ride the track.

Not totally related, but FYI purposes: In that new movie "Hitting the Apex" Dani Pedrosa speaks to how difficult it can be for him to ride the RC213V (Honda MotoGP bike) because he is so small, so light. Ideally he is on the other end of the spectrum and too short, too light. But he has adapter and they worked to get the bike to work well for him, and of course he is up with the best of the best. But also the Honda team principal Livio Suppo speaks to it too about him being so short and small, it's less traction, toughER to manipulate the bike, etc.

Look for the 848 being ridden by ducati.org's Garrettjkubiak who stands taller than me, so 6'4" id think and 220-230lb
He gets the bike over. Here is 6'5" on an 848, seems to work :)

I put my podium racing rearsets as high and forward as you can get them. Bought some renthal bars an inch longer than stock and swept them forward probably 15 degrees to open up my shoulders. It ain't pretty but you can do it and still make her go fast!!

I'm 6'3", 230lbs, and I've got lots of room on my 07 1098. I'm using stock rearsets but I did replace the stock pegs with larger grippier pegs. Lots of legroom on a 1098. I've also got a 2015 Yamaha R1, great bike, but less legroom.
