Going to forge ahead & fit a pair of 1200S forks to my 821. Forks complete with triples are on their way. Brakes are probably going to be the main problem. If anyone has already done it I would appreciate any helpful info before I tackle it????

Andreani & mupo come to mind but theres two other brands I've come accross that do catridges.
Andreani being the most cost effective. Mupo is a lot dearer but from all reports that particular catridge is worth the $$$. But I guess that would depend on the intended use.

I bought the bike in damaged condition with bent forks. I pulled the forks apart with the thought of replacing the bent lowers. What I found inside is a cheap ass fork that really doesn't warrant spending significant money on to get back in operation so for a few more dollars I picked up a nice low mileage set of 1200S forks all complete with tripples & brake calipers that will slide straight onto the trellis. If I did fix the originals then upgraded with an Andreani kit it would cost more than the Ohlins I've got. So that's why I'm doing what I'm doing, it's not about bling!

have you managed to do it?

I'm exactly in the same situation, i just bought a 2018 M821 and next week i'm buying a complete Ohlins M1200S fork, including carbon front fender +a set of forged Marchesini wheels for 1.5k euro

I believe Buhgaboo has done this...

You'd need the complete front end which is a rare find second hand...

Yes I did it. You need the whole tripples. The 821 h-bar holder swaps over okay. I used the 821 front wheel, machined the left spacer & shimmed the wheel position to perfectly center it. I fitted 1200S discs and purchased the Duc caliper bolt spacers you need for the extra diameter of the discs. I used the 821 calipers which work ok on the 1200S discs. If you are using a 1200S type front wheel it will be easier but you will have to get a LH 1200S axle spacer & I think you will need 1200S discs but have a measure up first before buying discs - I think from memory the disc off sets r different. The front axles are the same. The Monster 821 is a great bike stock but with Ohlins it's a fantastic bike.

Don't how this post went under my radar...I've made the swap....needed the triple clamps but everything else fit without any modifications...was running a 1098 or an 1198 front rim I forget but the axel and spacers are the same part numbers so it fit...as far as cost, I got very lucky to have found one available when I needed it and was able to resell my front making the end cost to that of a cartridge kit...the ohlins are far more adjustable than anything out there but aside from springs I haven't run into the next level which would beckon valving....however the rear shock was an instant disappointment...the reason I upgraded in the first place was because the rebound circuit was to slow...ohlins was absolutely identical...when it's apart for service I'm going to change it...long over due

I may have to look for another fork, because the one i found seems to be a scam attempt.
Anyway, you changed the rear shock too? Could it be that the original one is also Ohlins, but without the branding? I may have found one from a GSXR for about 250 euro. Would it be worth it to try and fit it, if it's even possible?

The original is Sachs... I think...and you can't just swap one from another bike...unless the stroke is the same...the length is the same...the eyelets or mounts are the same...then the spring... clearance issues....I'm just going to say no don't do it...but if in your research it looks like it could fit...then by all means go ahead...

I found another Ohlins front fork for 750 euro, but this one is from a CBR1000RR
Would it be possible to adapt it to my Monster?
I can machine triples out of billet aluminium if needed.

Also, if this active suspension fork doesnt have it's plugs connected, does it work like a normal fork?
(yeah, i'm new to this :)
