Hey is the belly pan on the black 1098S not gloss black like the rest of the bike? It looks flat / matte black...

Apparently its matt black just like on the Tri-colore. Something about it being easy to repaint it if gets chipped. Sounds like bullshit cause you dont see Matt red bellies on the red bikes do you?

Exactly... Don't know what the thinking behind that idea is... I think it would have looked much better glossy like the rest of the bike.

Maybe when they bring out a DARK edition it will come out. Personally I hated the "dark" models. They all looked unfinished. I've got a photos somewhere of matt black 1098 with a red frame somewhere , I'll see if I can find it. It didn't look cool.

Think of it as Ducati's way of nudging you into a CF belly pan.

Seriously, look at the stock clutch cover. It doesn't match anything else on the bike, it is heavy enough to be a boat anchor and if it had a handle it would make a great frying pan. They know you're going to ditch it the first chance you get.

They're not making those aftermarket parts for nothing.

Hmmmm, maybe they ran out of gloss belly pans when they were putting the black ones together and opted for the left over TriColore belly pans? Now it's worth more!

Seriously though, it doesn't look that bad. When I first read this read I thought it was going to be a lot worse. I can get use to it..it's gotta grow on ya.

Depending on the lighting you can hardly notice if it's gloss or not.
