That looks a hell of a lot better than most carbon covers I have seen. By the same token, it doesn't cover much and could increase the chance of shit getting in there?

Looks good IMO, it's how I cut my stock one after seeing a post on here.

I'd say go for it and would not worry too much about getting something in there.

Nice! I'd be more concerned with stuff getting out rather than in. Stuff like chain lube or broken chain. Nothing I'd really worry about though. One thing you might consider is a case saver insert. It's a piece of steel that goes between the front sprocket and the engine casing and protects the case if the chain lets go....

An open sprocket cover is a lot like putting bigger wheels on your car... it shows off what's underneath. On a car, you'll want to piss away another $6000 on Brembos. In this case, a fancy new chain and sprockets!

With that upper front area cut away it's going to throw lube everywhere! No thanks.

I don't think that you're right there Ten-6. The chain gets the same coverage with this cover as the standard one. Having seen a photo of this DP cover on an actual bike, all that is left uncovered is most, but not all, of the drive sprocket.

Anyway use a decent chain lube and you won't get hardly any fling in the first place.

Found the photo, HERE you are.

I did that mod on my stock plastic cover. I also had the same mod on my RC51 and never had issues with lube dirtying anything other then the inside of the cover. I did that mod on the RC51 because I went to a 520 conversion and wanted to show off the bling. I still need to convert the Duc.

I have it...it sucks in that the sprocket is half exposed and u get a bit more gunk flying around from the chain and whatnot and a shoelace could ruin your day....looks ok......mine had a few minor blemishes....I'm not greatly displeased with it though

Finally was able to get that piece, looks great...same size as stock cover. Why are guys riding with their SHOE STRINGS dangling??? Would you not be just as concerned about the strings in the OPEN CLUTCH BASKET???
