Hi all,

New to this website! I am looking for a carbon key gard for my 1098 and the only one I found is from emotouk.com is this it, no US sources?

Thx

That's right - Shift Tech makes a carbon key guard and it was on their site about a week or so ago. But, I remember someone started a thread saying it scratched the paint on his tank and I know he contacted Shift-Tech about it so maybe they took it off their site to re-mold the key guard(?).

You can also try Carbonworld.de
I don't think that Carbonworld offers one--at least they didn't when I bought mine--and I think that Shift-Tech pulled his for a redesign(?) after the scratching incidents. Try searching the threads...

I have the Emoto one and have had no problems at all, it is the same as the shift tech one from the same supplier and if fitted correctly does not hit the tank anywhere.
I have bought lots, and I mean lots of parts from Emoto and personally have had no problems at all, I know Visitor Q (Jason) has had the problem with his belly pan butI speak as I find, no problems at all.
I ordered the 70mm version hugger yesterday afternoon and it was delivered 7.25am this morning
Speak to Geoff , he is the best guy there.

Just went to Shift-Tech's site and I saw the carbon key part and I placed an order plus a few more things. He feels confident that the part has been debugged! :D

I bought a really nice piece from CarbonWorld to protect my bike from the ShiftTech piece:
Does that front tank piece from Carbonworld cover over the area where the key guard touches the tank? (I could not really tell from the picture).

That is a very nice looking carbon fiber piece by the way ;) .

Yes it does. It actually goes well below, right to the base of the tank.

I have the same 2 carbon bits and it looks GREAT!

Thank you Shift-Tech!

I think Shift-Tech is your best bet IMO. If and when I buy anyone more CF in the future I plan on buying from them.

I really cant say enough about Shift-tech.

Some of you know about the scratching I had with the Carbon kryguard. Shift-Tech has really stood behind me in getting it resolved. They provide a level of customer service that is unparalleled. And the carbon that is offered is only the best of the best. Guido has my business, PERIOD

I'm very glad it worked out good for you. You were lucky because all they offered me was to return the part for a refund and a (unspecified) discount on a future purchase. It's stupid to suggest a return because their part was now needed to cover the damaged tank! It turned out that all the white powder where the carbon fiber was hitting the tank was the CF, not the tank. With a little elbow grease and four-steps of buffing compound, I got the tank back to normal. So they lost my trust in their products and also with their service. I understand their position but I thought ShiftTech coulda/shoulda handled it differently.
