I threw my beloved 916 down the road last weekend for the first and only time (fingers crossed) which resulted in a bruised ego and cosmetic damage to the bike.

I totalled the LH fairing and indicators, scratched up the tailpiece and damaged the front nose cone and cracked the screen, so I need to get some new bits.

I would like to get CF but the full kit would be too expensive and I would need to paint the fairing the traditional red (not sure what i think about too much CF look). I can get a complete body set (Fibre glass) for $700 AU + painting.

However I did find some nice CF work from Geelong Carbon Craft here in Australia. http://www.geelongcarboncraft.com.au/

What does everyone think of this 'red' CF?

Has no one noticed this supplier before? Or has every body seen it aren't that impressed?

I'm thinking of the seat unit in this red CF like the one attached.

I like it because it is just a little different to the run of the mill 'normal' CF, it a bit like bums nowadays, everyones got one.

I spoke to the manufacturer and they have gone off it themselves although they will still produce it. They have tried to match the ducati red but everytime they put the resin on the colour darkens up and is not a staright match so they aren't real happy with it but i like it a lot.

Opinions please.

Conceptually I like it. They'd have to remove their decal though. But I think Shaun_69 is right, if you look closesly the the pattern doens't look consistent. If they were to get it right, I think it would look great. They'd have to match the tail piece to front.

I've made a decision!

Thank you to all for the opinions.

I must have had my head up my arse when i 'thought' I heard the full glass for $700, $700 for both fairings and not nose cone and seat.

Anyway I got a good deal (quality pending) and have decided to go full carbon (just the normal black) for $100 a piece dearer than glass. Full fairing in carbon for $1700 AU. Thanks superlight but the Geelong Carbon mob were much cheaper.

Still not sure about the full carbon look and i guess i can always paint them.

I'm thinking about the 996R paint scheme with a black logo on the tank and fairings but I'm in a quandry about keeping it 'original' - that's another post/rant.

I still like the 'red' though.

Smeegle and shaun - apparently the 'red' fibre has also got kevlar in it and it is apparently very hard to work with on large pieces with tricky corners, hence the misalignment in the weave. He reckons it is harder than a cats head and the wet rubbing can take a long time.

I think i will get a tank pad in the 'red' and maybe a key guard as well.

Keep you posted, and of course pics when appropriate.:)
