Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I have 700 miles on the bike. I changed the oil and filter myself, also adjusted the chain myself. Message SERV pops up on the screen when I start the bike (i understand a dealer has to shut it off). My problem is: My little orange engine light is coming on after a few miles and it started around the same time my "SERV" message popped on. Is this light part of the 600 service or something entirely different?

Any help would be great fella's....or ladies.

I think the dealer just may have to reset all that with the DDS.

I'd give them a call.

To my understanding, the flashing "serv" message and the little orange light don't have anything to do with one another. The "serv" message is strictly a function of mileage, but the flashing orange light signals that an electronic engine management error has been detected.

The mileage interval cannot be reset until the "serv" message is actually flashing. I took my 1098 in just a little before 600 miles, and the dealer said they went ahead and performed the procedure to reset the service interval. But it still came on a few days later when the odometer actually hit 600 miles. So, I had to go back for another reset. Lesson learned: don't take the bike in until the "serv" message is actally flashing, or you're gonna be back in a couple of days anyhow.

You definitely need to make a trip to your dealer --- to get your "serv" indicator reset, and to find out why you're picking up an engine management/ECU error.

This is just my understanding of things --- hope I'm not accidently lying to you.
