One quick tip… questions like this should be posted in the particular section for your motorcycle. So in this case, there is a section under the "superbikes" for 748/916/996 machines. You'll get a much faster response when posted there.
To answer your question, the open clutch covers pose a problem for the stock steel components in wet environments. You'll get rust in there no questions asked. The solution is to swap out the hardware to stainless steel springs and aluminum screws. An aluminum hub and basket, with aluminum friction plates will also help. It's hard when the bike isn't able to dry after a ride, so another tip would be to run it for a few seconds indoors before shutting it off. If you store it outdoors in the wet, do the same thing, only cover it right away. The less moisture is on that assembly the better.
