Hello Everybody,
my name is Alfredo and I also have ordered a Desmosedici; I am finding out that there are different info in relation to the weight of the bike....some sites say 377 lbs dry, some other 320 lbs dry....beside clarifying this, does anyone have any idea as to the hight of the seat? Thanks

Right!!! I did not think about all the road additions.....that of course I will remove before even picking it up from my dealer; so perhaps after the mods it will probably lose some 25 lbs. If I could bring it to around 350 lbs dry I would be very happy. We will just have to wait and see what happens. What about the seat height???

I don't know what the seat height is. there's a lot more in weight modifications then headlights. They had to add a real waterpump of course, throw in a heavier flywheel etc... so it idles right and runs smooth. Starter etc...

Hey Dagor6, do you think i am having a sorry idea taking delivery of my DD16rr without the elements to put it on the road? I gave instructions to my dealer to transform the bike into a track bike and give me the parts in a bag just in case in the future I would want to sell it. I made it a point to take the tags off of all my bikes ( MV f4 1000, Monster s2r 1000, Suzuki SV 650s and Brutale 910r ) and use all the above ONLY on the track. See, I am not from this country though I live here in the USA and I am getting a lot of criticism for doing that while in my opinion I am only finding the way of enjoying my bikes better and at the same time reducing the risk of getting badly hurt from another car or truck etc. Thank you

Finally the specs are reciting 377 lbs loaded so, by the time I get rid of lights, mirrors, tag holder, kick stand and a couple of other little things I should be able to take it to the 350 lbs that I was hoping for at the beginning of this thread...only 27 lbs less or somewhere around there.

Another subject: does anyone know if the DD16rr that we are purchasing has the electronic shifter and the speed reduction for the pitts? I may have misunderstood but this appears to be on an italian magazine.

Nothing that I've read, heard or been told has indicated that either are present on the bike.

Thanks Tricolore, I think this was just another of those wrong info that came out of some Italian press every once in a while. Obviously I'd have loved such features on the DD16rr but I will either do without them or I will just install them after i get the bike....if I ever will....

Dyno

I found somewhere a dyno graph of the D16RR:

First saw it already in a german magazine, but I stumbled now over it on internet.
(Did not see it yet on any post about the D16RR.)

And somebody still had the courage of saying that the 1098r actually would "outperform" the D16rr....give me a F*&#$%#@ break!

Probably different pilot, something wrong with the bike or different something, singular incident anyway....the DD16rr has 20 hp more than 1098; the only fact that the 1098 is lighter by a few pounds would not make enough difference to outperform the Desmosedici. TC might be another factor, but TC will be installed in the DD16rr after they will have been delivered....

Well actions speak louder than graphs........and in Ducati tests the 1098R lapped Misano faster than the D16RR, so...............

You've got to keep in mind, the desmosedici is way, way tuned down to meet their three year serviceability goal. I think the race trim 1098R might've circulated faster on it than some half ass journalist or testing laps on a desmosedici with the stock tires. Especially consider the 16 inch rear tire for which the only race tires are GP tires (not brought out for testing I'm sure) and the fact that they still haven't turned the TC system on for the Desmo-16.

I think it'd be hard to argue against the idea that if someone were to take a desmosedici, throw some race rubber on it and strip the extra weight off, it would destroy the 1098R.

It's kind've like a gixxer. Stock they make less power than a 1098, and they are heavier. But I've seen privateer bikes dyno out at 210 rwhp. There's no way you could get a 1098 engine to do that. I'm sure even the factory can't get the bike above 200 hp. Well, the desmosedici could probably easily make 230 rwhp and hit 17K rpm for a few thousand bucks in mods. It'd be an ejector seat, but heh.....

That dyno graph looks a little suspect since it shows a max of 200 rwhp, I think the bike was supposed to make 200 at the crank and something along the order of 180 at the rear wheel.
Hi Dagor,
that dyno is expressing CV (in italian Cavalli vapore) and they are NOT RWHP they are instead HP at the crank, exactely 200 as the desmosedici calls for

Don't forget more hp doesn't mean you are going to be faster. You have to be able to ride a 200-230 hp bike and believe me more hp more difficult it becomes.

Take the supersport class @ 140 hp compared to suberbike @ 210hp, the fast SS guys are only 2-3 sec. slower how come?

By the way Ducati said that the 1098R has 200 hp with the Termis and the race ECU. Just last week Ducati changed that to 186hp. Quite frankly the average track guy won't know the difference he will be off the trottle before those 16 hp come into play.

No matter what the sedici will be a hornet.

As I posted earlier we will have a fast 1098R by mid march and I look forward to how she will measure against a sedici.
