Hi all,
I'm buying a 2007 Ducati 848 with only about 5000km on the clock. She's been parked for a while and not been run often. I'm going to be driving her back home, about a 12 hour trip. I don't have access to a dealership until the end of the trip. What should I do before my epic trip with regard to basic maintenance that can be done outside a dealership?
Obviously an oil and filter change, chain tension, what else?

I think you'll probably be fine. I'd do all the fluids (oil/coolant/brake/clutch) make sure the chain flexes as it may be unable to flex properly and finally, I'd just check belt tension. Make sure everything looks OK in that area before hitting the road. Don't need to make any adjustments. Just run the bike with the belt covers off and see if the belts have any play with your finger. If they seem tight, then go for it! :)

When you get back, do a full service… belt replacement, check clearances and I'd have someone rework the suspension as the oil is long bad from sitting.

Contrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum!
