Sometimes there is a match between engine number and frame number. But this varied on different Ducati models over the years.

But the Vehicle Identification Number is a stand-alone identification for that vehicle for purposes of registration and insurance. There should be records of the other numbers where the VIN is recorded for registration.

If you are attempting to verify the legality/history of your bike that may be problematic, as (I mentioned this in response to your search for a tank) your bike was more than likely a grey import from Japan.

Very few were sold new here to my knowledge.

My bike was privately imported into OZ many years ago I discovered.

I emailed the VIN to Ducati in Italy and they replied promptly with a small amount of history i.e where they originally sold it to.

Turns out it was initially sold into a Malaysian dealer and then imported to OZ from there.
