Exhaust Valve

There is some talk on the monster 1200 forum that undoing the exhaust valve cable makes the bike smoother at low revs and frees up the exhaust.
It seems the valve starts closing around 4000rpm but some test have shown its erratic in its opening closing rpm range.

I unhooked the cable on my 821 and have conflicting results.
The exhaust tone seems quieter
The bike is much smoother at lower rpm and no longer surges at some constant rpm in the lower range.
It no longer pops and farts on deceleration

The issue I find it feels down on power through the low to mid rpm compared to when it was hooked up.

Has anyone else unhooked theres and felt a difference?
Id like to hook it back up but have to figure out what way it came off as I didn't take the time to study it before unhooking it. lol

Well, I know a lot of the super bike guys remove theirs. It'll def be smoother. I just pulled my cables on my 848 and safety wire the valve open and it seemed like it didn't bog down as much.
