So ever since I bought my 1098S everyone has wanted a piece of me. I've spanked everyone until I ran a 2007 Gsxr 1000 full exhaust, mapped (at least that's what he says was done). He pulled maybe 2 bikes through 6th gear. I've done the full termi kit and changed my gearing to 14/39 (down 1 front, up 1 rear).

Anyone have any tricks to make it any faster without major motorwork???

Thanks

Hi,

Add a power Commander...?

I dunno man, my friend has a GSXR, and on the straights, when we get up there in speed, i have to shift to 6th at about 160 something, and he stays in fifth until almost 180. Thats when he pulls on me. I think the gsxr just pulls at super high speeds because of gearing and RPM...

??

I'm impressed that you stayed with him for so long, though. Maybe i'll get some more mods...

A twin is not going to have the same top speed that a inline4 has. And adding a power commander to get 5 more hp will not effect your top speed. Like Merto said catch him in the corners. Compare who can get off the line quicker, who has the better components. Oh ya and in five years what's his "Gixxer" gonna be worth compared to your 1098.

If memory serves, the top speed on the 1098 is limited to just a click over 173 (173.4 is what I'm remembering). So unless you've figured a way around that, he'll always pull on you past that point.

07's with a full exhaust and map are going to make a lot more power than a 1098. Some dyno's are coming in at or near 180. Your bike's likely pushing 165.

All you can do is buy a 1098R or put on a PCIII mapped for race gas and run race gas.

I disagree. I don't know where you bought your bike, but mine has been to 182, with the shift light going insane. if i had to guess, i could have porobably gone another 2 mph, but my exit was coming up (very quickly, at that) It runs out of gear. I don't think theres an electronic governor (other than the rev limiter)

I doubt you are going to beat the GSXR 1000 from what I have read either.

I don't want to sound like Mom here or anything but you better watch your a$$ doing a buck 80 on public roads. I must admit, I have not been far behind that before just to say I know for a fact the bike can do it. However just keep in mind this… No cop is going to believe "no, I didn't know I was going that fast officer" and nothing out runs the radio, I don't care what bike you own.

Agreed, but i was way out here on route 84.
Nothing for miles. Even if they have a radio, if i pass one cop, he's probably the last until the Wyoming border.
I speed, which is stupid, but i do it wisely, which is an oxy-moron.

Yeah I am as guilty as the next, no need to explain. Even me saying something is sorta an oxy-moron ubt always something to keep in the back of your mind.

Unfortunately, in the real world there exists a thing called speedometer error. Often times, the speedometer reading is being quite optimistic to say the least. I wish my bike, snowmobile, car, etc. were actually capable of the speeds being displayed on my speedometer when running in the triple digit MPH range. Not hating or anything, just wanted to put that out there. Do some radar runs and compare the numbers, it will show the sad truth.

Yeah, i've heard that. next to my friend, at equal speeds, his speedo always reads more than mine. When i see one of those dumb police radar "LOOK HOW FAST YOURE GOING" things, i always notice. at about 30, its off by 1. So i assume, at 120, probably about 4., 180, 6, etc.

Point is, since we all have the same bikes, and the speedos are all relatively close, this is my point of reference.

btw, you dont happen to ride on the NORTH SHORE, do you? is that northeast or northwest??

I'll look up the reference and post....it was in one of three mags that I had (and still do somewhere) I didn't just pull that out of thin air. My top is 171, which was achieved before I knew of it....so I can't say from personal experience. But I'll find it and post.
