Hello, I purchased a 2013 Multistrada 1200S Grantorismo 08/28/2013.
at time of purchase, I had Full Termignoni Race Exhaust added.
Last night I was reading forums, and found an article displaying Ducati 1200 MTS Racing on startup, found out that it indicated that the Upmap to the ECU was present and functioning.
on 2013+ models, the Upmap is done by means of USB and USB Dongle.
This evening, I looked out of curiosity , has Id never noticed that coming up on my start screen, and low and behold, it wasn't there.
I called the dealer, and spoke to a shop employee, who was adamant, that it never says this, and that my bike was as it should be.
when I told him that I had seen pictures of this, showing "race" in the start window, he told me that I should talk to the owner.
The owner told me that on bikes 2013+ that the method was different, now using USB, and that it was normal not to see the Race..
I have no, before and after to compare, but do know, that the tailpipe is black, indicating that its running rich, and that there's excessive backfire/popping on decel.
can any one here confirm, definitively, that there should or should not be a Race shown in the start window along with the Ducati 1200 MTS?
Its killing me, thinking that Im not getting the "full" deal.
Regards, and thanks for reading.

The easiest way to verify that the up-map is indeed installed is to reinsert the up-map key into the bike and turn the key on. The dash will read "map already present" The up-map key comes with the full exhaust and you should ask for the physical key (USB looking stick) if it was not given to you. Than manual does not indicate if racing will be displayed or not. My Panigale manual tells me the different displays I will see with an up-map present. More info on this is in the MTS 1200 owners manual pg. 164-170

Thanks for your help, I stopped by the dealer today, who basically said, that he couldn't find it.
It was never given to me when I purchased the bike.
Most owners, unless it happens to becomes an issue, would never know to ask for the USB.
I really feel like my dealer has let me down. I always feel like I've been cheated when I deal with him..he has terrible people skills.
I'll be quite happy to ride 2hrs to the next reputable Ducati dealer, rather than give him any more of
my money. I've spoken to dozens of other people since the initial purchase of the bike, who have had equally bad experiences with this guy.
If I thought it would do any good, I'd report him to the highest office of Ducati, but I'm probably just going to be looked at like some crazy complainer, and waste my time.
It really leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Regards
