That's exactly the finish I wanted to do if I did the full Termi system. Great to see it done, and it looks great!
Thanks for the write up, too!

Nice write up... I have everything stripped down to the mid pipe on my 848, I am going to get a friend to come over to lend a hand for the rest.....
There were no instructions in the box.....is their such a thing???

Yes, there are instruction but they suck a$$. If you need them, I can email them to you if you like.

I am not blowning my own horn or anything here but my write-up is much more instructive espically with the input from other members.

Well I have it as a PDF but it is too big to attach here so like I said, it's an email away if anyone needs it.

I enlisted the help of a friend who just finished rebuilding a 996 and a 1098, it didnt actually go that badly, it is pretty straight forward. Hardest part was getting the little screw in the back end, between the pipes.... oh, and the bottom right flange bolt!

I saw the guy building the 848's at the factory.... maybe that helped, lol!

All to well my friend, all to well.

Great Write-Up

I did not put the exhaust flip apart to get the cables from the servo motor off. I used a large adj. open end wrench and turned the motor in each direction to get the cables on the end off.

Just installed my system this last weekend. The write-up made it easy but I have no idea how you got the exhaust servo cables off.
A little muscle I guess, cut the damn things... Unless you install the stock exhaust again, you'll never have a need for it.

I was able to keep mine in tacked but it did suffer a little stress I’m sure. I doubt I will ever have reason to install it again.

Sometimes it is just easier to cut things and get it the hell off there rather than dick around with it.

Not sure on the size but as far as I know, everything is metric on this bike.

just wanted to say great write up helped me a lot thanks also no need for home made wrench on an 1198 plain craftsman works fine also my cf shield was broke and missing screw and washers so placed order with shift tech.pretty sad when a 3thousand $ kit is missing parts and broken parts and piss poor instructions well let's just say I did not get what I paid for!
Well thanks again
Anyone know how to get service manualÂż?

Great right up, helped immensley. I'll just add the torque requirements for the header are 10lb's

bought a 10mm elbow socket, worked great getting the headers off. Had to wiggle it on, but had no issue torquing all bolts back on.

Lastly, forgot to take oxygen plugs off stock exhaust and put them on the new pipes. My dealership noticed when I brought it in to have the TPS reset and fuel adjusted.

Removing the db Killer

Hey guys great write up! I have the full race system installed thanks to you. But I still have a question...How do you remove the db killer from the exhaust? I removed the lower screws on the end of the cans and tried grabbing the rod inside the exhaust opening but could not remove it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
