Just to put things in perspective. You're jeopardizing a $4000 motor internals to save $30 every 3000 miles...doesn't make much sense.

FWIW, 21K miles on the 999, I use either the full syn BMW or I go to WallyWorld to get Mobil 1 15-50 full syn. They also carry a Castrol 2V High Performance full Syn for bikes like ours. $5.50 quart.

Only have a 2 year old ducati , use mobile 1 10w40 bike oil. But have used this oil for 21 years in my cbr600f2. Did a leakdown this past winter .5% across 4 cylinders. I'm happy with it. We also use mobil 1 auto oil in all our race cars, never any trouble.

Mobile 1 being full syn is a myth. It's much cheaper now that everyone knows. I don't think it is as good as good the other psudo synth oils out there and cheaper.

Best way is, to use what ever oil you think is best and then do an oil analysis. Just find your local oil jobber they will be more than happy to run it for you. $25.00 appx...then you know everything and what is and is not wearing on your motor...

I've run Mobil1 in every bike I've owned. 20k on the 848 and never noticed a change
