Part list:
Short Brake Lever (https://goo.gl/Ybghqm)

My buddy filmed me while I changed the levers on my Ducati 1098S. To my knowledge it is exactly the same as the 848, 1098, 1198, and Panigale 1199 & 1299. For all I know it might be the same with many other models of Ducati's and motorcycles as well.

THREE KEY POINTS:
-If the stock actuator pistons need to be re-used, the pivot sleeve needs to be pressed out to seperate the lever and retrieve the piston.

-Make sure that clutch lever you are ordering has an additional pin sticking out from the bottom which is used to engage the clutch sensor.
(both of these key points are illustrated in the video)

-After installation, make sure the levers or actuator pins are not binding on the master cylinder. That is, make sure free play between the actuator piston and the master cylinder is retained so that the lever are not partially engaging the brake or clutch while riding.

*It's also a good idea to clean all the surrounding areas with a mild solvent to remove old residue and grease lightly all the moving parts.

Also it turns out that the Ebay levers are not bad at all. At 25$ shipped they were cheaper than both OEM levers and Pazzo/CRG/ASV levers.

My previous pair were Pazzo's. I laid the bike down at the track and broke them last summer. So far, however, I can not tell a difference between the two pairs in build quality. Mass spectrometry test indicates the aluminum is the same grade if not very close. However rumors has it that some Ebay companies ship the levers with the clutch sensor pin while others do not... so buyer beware.

The verdict: At such a low price, I've ordered 3 pairs as spares for the track and still had enough money left over to put towards my new Oberon clutch slave cylinder. Good investment choice? You be the judge!

Can you take a photo of the pins?

Also, I see some grease or some type of fluid as you reinserted the actuator back into the brake lever. Is that the "pin"?

And is that grease or brake fluid?

Hmm, I'll see how that comes around after I get my bike tomorrow. Ducabike levers just arrived today <3

Thanks a stack Tchase, you're the real MVP

Wait a second the other pin is in the handle I'll take a pic. I had to reuse the stock.

So the drawing is correct, the pin pushes into the plunger. But if the new levers do not come with pins you have to press them out of your stock ones.

Check out these pics should give you an idea.

Yup, TChase is the man! Thanks for pointing that out

I used two sockets and a vice grip to push the pin out. Fairly easy but take it slow to make sure you have the sockets aimed correctly. It doesn't take much force to push the pins out so if you're cranking on the vice grip like an angry ape you're doing it wrong!
