Not giving the OP stick, but what he described seems normal.
Shorai battery is a bit different from acid battery in that they tend to perform better when heated up, while acid battery tend to be weaker when they heat up.
In cold climate, if Shorai battery has trouble starting, it is advisable to let the headlight on for a minute or so before trying to crank again. That's what I did in the winter and after that it would start with no problem.
Even just cranking twice would do in most cases.
Voltage dropping temporarily after cranking is normal.
14v when running is also normal.
12.9V is also normal.
