:yo:I couldn't resist anymore so i took the cover off my bike last night and is on stand by now. My first riding season is about to start with my new 821M dark soon. I only had taken her out around the block on my street last year since i got it pretty late last fall. Anyways, Just wanted to ask anyone that is it ok for me to not change my oil yet since i had it stored in a unheated garage all winter? I also manage to put in only 170km so the oil in there is still brand new when i put her away. I also didnt bother taking out the battery, but she is hooked up on a good battery tender (Optimate4) full time, so all i have to do is put in my key and push the start button and hope that off i go with no issues! i am pretty sure that i will hit 1k for the first service right away as soon as the road is clear of snow and i will most likely have my local Ducati dealer service it first then will do my own next oil change.
Btw, does anyone know of which is our oil drain bolt/screw located underneath our engine? i see a big screw and a smaller screw under there. i want to know which is which. Does not say which one is the oil drain bolt from our bike manual. Also want to know if there is already a K&N oil filter available for our bike now?

Hi Five55,

I had only ridin the bike for a few km since i got it and this was last fall season. The weather is a bit in the cooler side already. I cant say yet how bad the heat on this naked bike would be until we get to summer this year. The new Monsters now are a water cooled engine so correct me if i am wrong assuming that it will give off less heat prior to older models that are air cooled engine? You would have to ride fast or up the speed not getting caught in traffic to get some air to cool off the engine on a air cooled unit vs. water cooled has a fan that will kick in when it reaches that high temp. Hope this helps your decision.

Yea, I have read the difference between air vs water cooled engines, but hopefully it's not unbearable although I am pretty much sold on the bike. I am currently working out a deal with one of the dealerships down here in vancouver B.C.

By any chance do you know how high the temperature will have to be until the fan kicks in? I am somewhat comparing to a 2008 yamaha r6 I use to own, and the heat issue for that wasn't that bad at all..Thanks for all your help.:)

For what it's worth, I only have 200 miles on my 821 and I have no issues AT ALL with heat on the right side. I mean, sure I can tell "Hmm, the right side is warner", but it is not uncomfortable at all. My experience has a good portion of city stop-n-go riding, too.

I've read some reviews or comments about how the right-side nearly lights your leg on fire and gives 2nd degree burns, but this is crazy. It's fine. Nothing to worry about.

So far, I LOVE it. I am just really, really enjoying the heck out of it. My first Ducati, too. The exhaust notes are just awesome. It handles incredibly. In fact, that's really what sold me. It might be more nimble than my Street Triple R and that's saying something. The motor has enough power for me (more than enough) and the brakes are fantastic.

For what I was looking for a medium-high powered naked that is stylish and handles great-- it really fits the bill. And let me reiterate--that exhuast is awesome!

I've yet to test ride one but always heard good things about the V-twins from Ducati. Do you guys recommend the Termi's? or the stock one is just as good..

By the way, seems like taking out the battery could be a real pain, anyone have had experience with it?

Hello everyone I have been reading your form for the last couple months while deciding to buy a monster 821. finally pulled the trigger two days before having to leave the country for two weeks and a snow storm:confused:. finally got to ride this week and I love the bike. all of you have a lot of the extras I'm hoping to get in the future. I hope to pick your brains on which are the best and most urgent to get.

I would like to know about the Termi exhaust also. I have a little over 700 miles on mine and am thinking about the Termi slip-on's.. Are they that much better? The stock exhaust sounds great, I wonder if the Termi's worth it..
