I Changed My Own Oil How Do I Get The Service Light Off

Ducati arranged it this way to protect and preserve warranty compliance. Once you abandon scheduled servicing by the dealer within the warranty period your warranty is void. :(
I let the dealer do the required services until my warranty expired (even though I did my own maintenance during warranty:naughty:) but now I do my own and clear the service lights etc with the aid of the VDST. This handy little gadget paid for itself the very first time I used it.:D

Actually I believe that is against the law for them to do that (here in the US anyway).

As long as you do the service and have records of it they cannot void your warranty.

Now if you do your oil change and didn't fill it up all the way and burn up your engine they may not cover it but they have to Prove it was your fault.

.
That's a can of worms for sure. From what I understand, here in OZ you need to be a "qualified Service Technician" to complete services outside dealerships and still retain warranty rights. I don't know if that means 'Ducati Qualified' or just mechanically/ motorcycle qualified but it gives them a good case to claim warranty service was not completed by suitably trained personnel and wipe you. I chose not to give them the opportunity to argue the point. ;) Unfortunately I have to agree with most people about dealers in general and their lack of care and interest in customer satisfaction though. :(
