Well, sooner or later I was gonna go down. The other week I was testing out some new race gloves and messing with the clutch when I accidentally "popped" the clutch. The bike lurched foward, I instinctively grabbed a handful of throttle and the bike went for a full loop. I hit the ground hard and cracked a rib. The bike wasn't so lucky. It landed upside down and destroyed the intrument panel, front subframe, ground down the fork caps, cracked the tail, ground down the ends of the Termi's, smashed the useless mirrors, etc, etc, etc,.....in all $8,500.00 in damage due to a little bit of carelessness. Very depressing situation. I stupidly removed collision unsurance for a couple of months to adjust my budget, so I'll be paying out of pocket to fix this once beautiful creature.

Anyway, if anyone has a good site for spare parts or has some parts that they want to sell at a modest price, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

That sucks, I really do feel bad about the bike...but you're a dumbass for not having insurance. (smack smack) :nutkick:

You can try Argo Cycles, they're a salvage yard you can find on the net...maybe they have pieces in stock or leads on how to get them. They certainly see enough of what you did, but they also put bikes back together and sell them.

Also, live on eBay. IMO you should start blinging out the aftermarket parts and make lemonade out of lemons...good luck!

I know, I know, I know.....I've been kicking myself in the a$$ for doing that. Oh well, lesson learned.

Thanks for the information. I'll check them out.

i would sell it as a track bike and buy meself a new one.
I've thought about that. I've also thought about parting it out and selling it in pieces on ebay, then going out and buying a used one with the money I recover from the parts. The problem is I just don't have the time to mess with dismantling the bike, cleaning the parts, logging them down, taking pictures, and following the auctions. It can become overwhelming very fast.

Getting stuck with a bunch of spare parts is also something to think about if they don't sell.

How about using it as a track bike, ever consider that?

I don't go to the track enough to justify it. I only had 990miles on the bike and I purchased it back in April. It's hard to go out riding with a pregnant wife, four year old son, and a business to run. Not to mention, I'm back in school again. I pretty much use it to commute whenever I can. It's the only time I can enjoy riding.

Well lifestyle certainly will do that...but (devil's advocate here) maybe that's why it could be a track bike. If you're not riding it that much anyway, make it track-ready, have a trailer etc and just run track days with it. Yes you'll have to schedule full days but maybe that will be easier than squeezing time for a guy with your schedule? You'll not only have a blast but it will be scheduled and you won't have to worry about "fitting it in." I don't know just a thought.....

A very tempting though at that, but Happy wife= Happy husband. As long as she gets what she wants, I get what I want. :) In every sense of the way...hehehe...

By the way, I just found a tail piece on ebay. I hope I get it. :)

Thanks VQ,
I think the tank is actually fiberglass. It sure looks like it.

Forums are full of dickheads...

I don't have insurance on my bike becuase I don't want to throw away $2600 a year to an insurance company. I judge the risk, much like how an insurance company judges your risk or liability too them and charges you accordingly.

I had a big stack on my bike and the damage repair bill came in $1000 under the ins premium. I was clever about how I fixed my bike to reduce the cost.

Telling someone they are stupid for not having insurance is bit ignorant and judgemental.

Regardless, those plastic parts can all be repaired if you want them to be and you'll never know the difference.

Don't worry about the damage man, it's just a bike and you weren't seriously hurt.

Take it easy.
