The warranty will not be voided if you ride in the rain. Don't listen to stupid comments like that. As a matter of fact a warranty can't be voided only denied. If the rain causes a short in the electrical system of the bike, that probably won't be covered. But if your steering damper failed to do manufacturing error, they would cover that. Whether it was in the rain or not.

I've been caught in the rain a few times and never had any issues. But I also don't make it a habit to let the bike sit out in a storm or ride in one. Chances are you are gonna crash before your short circuit anything. A super bike and rain don't mix well. A good set of tires will improve your handling but really you need a multi strafa
Ya I thought riding in the rain would void the warranty was kinda bs that would be ridiculous if they did that I would be very disappointed if you are buying such an expensive bike they would be like that to their customers and ya super bikes and rain is not the safes thing in the world but I have road other bikes in the rain before and if you are smart about it and not try speeding like in the dry u should be OK but shit happens
Los Angeles

I don't know how you guys do it... If its not sunny and over 75 degrees my duc stays put.. Only enjoy it when its nice out, otherwise I am in the car..

Fortunately Los Angeles weather helps

I have ridden my bike in some crazy weather with no problems. In the wet the bike stays very upright and I know the supercorsas do not rain. Just take your time.
I would love to ride all year long but that would never happen here on the 848. I didn't buy it to be a commuter pig. In a perfect world you could own another bike to put excessive miles on without a care of what the weather is like. A guy lives near me that has a desmosedici. It is one of the dirtiest bikes I have ever seen and I always think - that bike needs to be owned by somebody else that appreciates it.
It would be a shame to do that to an 848, I mean unless it was a salvage bike that is just happy to be on the road.
Get a BMW F800gs or a gsxr 899 instead but tires on that would still need to be swapped.
I buy bikes to ride them. A bike that is dirty because it is ridden is a good thing. A bike that is dirty and beat up due to neglect is another.

Don't understand you Fairweather riders. A bike is to be rode it if it gets dirty big deal you can wash it bikes are made to be ridden.
Man if I could ride the bike every day and live in the place I live - It would be the best dream ever.
Today was rainy and 39 and that is going to happen all week. No thanks! That's what having a kick ass car is for.

I remember riding my Yamaha RZ/RD350 in the rain and it was a lottery, the spark plug leads would get wet and you would see sparks tracking everywhere and the bike stammered & missed, but never an issue with Ducati
I can also back up Shazzam with the Stabilant 22 product, I used to sell it.

I personally wouldn't go out and ride if it was raining out, simply because I wouldn't want to crash and damage the bike. LOL Having to be extra careful and trying not to lean over too far is not fun for me.

But can the bike handle it? Absolutely!

I have been stuck in the rain a couple times on my bike in the last 2 months..its not enjoyable for me LOL

For the record had I road into work today (raining) I'd probably be dead...
When I lived in Italy, all I had was motorcycles. The wife got to use the car. It was ok most of the time, and I didn't mind riding in the rain because I had all the gear.

Now that I live in Utah, I hardly ride on the street. Drivers here just don't see motorcycles. I think the difference is in Italy, most drivers started on a scooter and they just plain see bikes. In Utah they start with a massive SUV and couldn't care less about others on the road.

Germany was the same way vfr for sure. So rain is but a small part of safely riding on the street. I complain about the drivers here in the NW everyday on the way to work but upon visiting my home state of IN this summer, I would have to say they are the worst drivers ever. I would NEVER own a bike back there.

I won't lie, I get bored commuting on the bike. I understand some of you guys saying these bikes are made to be ridden, but not like that. Don't get me wrong, I still usually do about 10k a year but riding in the rain just isn't enjoyable to me.

As for doing it, I think the bike should be fine. Some times you have weird stuff happen but most every bike I have seen is fine in the rain. These companies can't expect the bike to stay dry its entire life.
I grew up in New England then moved to the mid Atlantic rode year round do the same here in Japan. I ride an average of 35-40 kms a year thats 21-25k for you stateside folks bikes have no issues with that kind of riding.
O, by not like that I meant street riding. Sure they do fine but I believe every bike should be on the track at least once in a while.
Yeah my track bikes are my CBR and my NSR the duc does more than its share of twisties on the road rides
I am a fair weather rider...

Im also a fair weather racer... :p
I ride almost year round here in dever, i road today even, 55 out but super wet with snow still around. its all about the tires and throttle control.

Cleaning any bike is super easy, power washer and microfiber with lots of soap, then blow everything dry with air.
