Hello there. I have a basic 1098 model, which let me add I love it. I own a fe other Ducs before, but by far I like the 1098 best. (748, 749, 996). I have been reading opinions on the difference between the stock pipes vs the slip-ons, but not too much about the full termi system. I don't race or anything like that. I ride my bike just for pleassure around town and stuff. So is it really worth it getting either the slip-ons or the full system? By the way I just got my bike not even a week ago because they sent me the bike with the upgraded ecu already installed. I have already 156 miles on it and it is absolutely awsome. The only thing is that the idiots at the docks when they lifted my bike with the folk lift they damage the front rim a little, but the dealer already ordered for me. It is just a little cosmetic damage, but it's their fault so I'm getting my new rim soon. I also ordered myself a clucth pressure plate in black, stainless steel pro springs, a clutch pressure plate stabilizer in red, and a 10 spoke carbon fiber clucth cover. Can't wait to keep putting things on my baby. My ideal goal is setting everything I can carbon fiber when I can affor it. Little by little I will. Anyways, any help deciding it will be appreciate it. Thanks.

The slip-ons really only provide a weight savings. Not much useable power gained at all. The full system gains 10-12 HP but loses some torque low in the band. So it depends on what you want:

1. Stock - sounds good and is cheap (basically free at this point)

2. Slip On - Sounds Better, saves some weight, kind of expensive but looks good.

3. Full System - Really expensive, impressive power gain, looks really good, may be TOO loud, saves a little more weight over the Slip On.

Personally I don't think I would want to live with the noise of the full system, and since I'm not a world class road racer the torque is probably more important to me, so I went with a slip-on.

Ill probably go with a slip on around Christmas time... present to myself.. I don't all the power of a full system, heck i probably really will never use all the power for the type of riding I do... To work around town and the occasional twistie mountain ride Someday the track... someday.

Hot topic at the moment - i suggest you read a few recent threads about it but you would only upgrade to a full system if you crave more power and want that fantastic look of the 70mm pipes. Apart from that there isn't any difference in volume and I'm not the only one who thinks so. If anything the Full system is not as loud as the slipons. Oh and if you get the full system then you'll be less likely to get a stalling bikes. Hardly anyone with the full system has reported problems with stalling whereas there are still a few with the slipons that stall.
The weight issues is still a bit unclear - sure you loose weight with the removal of the exup valve but with the bigger headers you gain weight so I assume it evens out. You wouldn't buy it for the weigh issues anyway - better of just dieting for a week.

I'd say get the full exahust if you want the best for the bike and have the cash... However, with the riding style you are talking about stick with a slip-on or the stock exhaust IMO.

Thanks everyone for the info. As for the stalling problem, I'm not supposed to be really concern about. The dealer jusdt told me that my bike was the second pack to be shipped and already has the upgraded ECU and has a few minor changes in the rear wheel which the axle hole is suppose to be a little bigger also. Cause I was about to purchase the rear stand that they had fr the 1098 and it didn't work on mine and they say that was the reason. Anyways, hope you all enjoy your DUCS. Ride safe and have fun.....

I upgraded to the full system. Moderate increase in power but I already had more than enough power. I'll be honest, I did it because I like the look of those fat pipes. I had mine jet coated in a stainless finish. Really striking. Worth the extra money? Can't speak for anyone but myself, but I think so.

My dyno charts (look in my gallery) show a big increse in torque and horse power from the stock to the full Termi system. It runs great!
