Just wanted to say hi...............had a 97 916 and loved the bike.......but with the flaking rockers and such, I decided to update to the 999S. It is a great handling bike with lots of torque.............Also could not use the registry feature as it does not show the year 2007 for the 999S.

Sweet Bike!

That is a nice looking bike. I got the 2004 Fila and love it. The 999 series bikes are great and don't let anyone tell you different.
With 285 m/m ride hight adjustment from eye to eye center and four lines showing on the forks above the top triple clamp, rake set at 24.5 degrees and the correct rear spring your bike will handle like a beautiful dream.
I am a fat little spud and have a 01091-31/95 -L084 rear shock (Ohlins) spring. I weigh in at 220 with gear now but should be 210 at most, it is the holidays that kill me. The stock rear spring was stupid soft with these bikes. Why Ducati does that crap I will never know.
You might already know all this stuff but I though I would post it for you just in case you did not.
Congratulations on the new bike!!!

I'm up for that. How do they determine which bike number you have?
It's either part of the VIN # or on the plate below the steering head which contains the VIN.

These bikes are real show stoppers. Every time I stop at a light I have to flip up my helmit to agree with the driver next to me how nice it is.

Have fun

Shah, are you getting your #110 from the VIN number? On my steering head, the VIN number is on the right side on the head or column it self. No plate. So this must be 106................
Yup I am getting it from the VIN number. I wish they had a plaque with the number on them like the do for the R but for some reason they never did.

How are you guys protecting the autographs on the tail? I got a quote to get it clear coated by the guy who does the paint work for my local duc shop but he wants $200 and I don't want to trust just anyone with it. I have heard of some other people getting it clear coated and the signatures running a bit as if they had a shadow to them.

I bought a new tail and put the original away...........clear coating has messed up some. I'm not taking the chance...........before you ask...........the tail costs a little over 500 bucks...........they had it in stock and I had the new tail installed before I took the bike.......

What you could do, if you have a spare piece of plastic for the bike, is to sign something with a sharpie and have the painter do a test run to see if clear coating works. If this process does work you'll be ok, but if your bike ever tipped over and damaged that piece you could never replace it.

Hey guys - absolutely my favorite bike. I ordered an 848 but when it came in without a damper, or bar ends for that matter, I decided no go. So, now I'm considering a Bostrom/Hodgson Team version as well. Any idea how low I should ask my dealer to go on the price (ie. what they're paying for them)? Thanks!

I never thought about protecting those signatures, but I'll bounce it off my dealer when I have it in for service. Weather in central NJ has been off-an-on but it was clear and realtively warm today so I managed to put about 40 miles on it. I'm trying to get to the 600 mile service since my dealer has winter specials - free pick-up and delivery and 15% off parts - until Feb. I've got a good coat of wax over it and there doesn't seem to be any signs of deterioraton. They gave me about a 7 % discount on the bike as I have been a very good customer and they had just gotten the bike in and didn't have to worry about selling it.

I have to tell you...I bought a jacket and pants which are basiclly red with black sections just to go with this and the 1098s. I get a lot of stares.

Good luck

Believe it or not, I paid 14,700 plus tax and shipping for mine. I made a killer deal. And yes mine was a new bike................Just to clairify, the shipping was to the dealer, as I bought the bike locally............
OMG. Man that is a killer deal! That blows my deal out the water. I paid $16,200 for mine. Did you have to do a lot of negotiating?
