Hi all,

im the most technically minded when it comes to bikes electrics however here is my issue:

The GF's monster runs fine, but when you stop, and come to start it, the bike wont go. It doesn't spin the start or kick up, just a click noise and that's it. For me, it sounds like the stand switch or maybe natural switch.

To get it going again, you have to shove it in first or second, rock it back and forth, then pull the clutch in. 9 times out of 10 this starts it again. It starts maybe 2/10 times in neutral first time.

Any ideas?

What does the battery voltage says on the dashboard when the bike cannot start? Possibly bad battery/rectifier/starter.

Hi

Sorry for the late reply, I have sent the dash off for repair so I cant remember but I remember it being above 12v.

Ive took the start motor off now and gave it a good clean, it looked great but was working a lot better on the bench.

Could have just been a bad connection inside
Hey all quick question about my ducati wen I go to start it I turn the ignition on everything lights up but when I push the start button nothing happens no clicks or attempts to start..does anyone know what this issue may be?
Is the kill switch on? Is it in neutral...green light? Is the kickstand up? Just a couple easy things to check first.
Is the sidestand extended?
The side stand has been shortened, why what are you thinking?

By the way, I took the start motor off, had it checked, its clean as a whistle, so put it all back together, thought great its working, started first time every time. Took it for a spin, no start!! Hair pulling out moment.

Thank you, all of the above were ok to be fair.
Same things that 7 Summits was thinking...
So Ducati think it mya have something to do with the immobiliser believe it or not.

The dahs requires replacement, so that's the first to be sorted (ouch £600.00 just under) and they are hoping that this will cure the issue. I cant see it, it seems this little Italian girl is going to require a good bashing before she does as she is told.... and her bike!

Will keep you all posted.

Hi all,

in the end this turned out to be a faulty starter motor.... changed it and all is working well.

I have to say, I didn't go to Ducati for the start as they wanted 380 Sterling..... went to wemoto and got it for less than a third and it did the trick
