I bought this ds1000ss a year ago. It had about 14000 miles on it and I was told the oil had just been changed. I've put 3000 miles on it and went to change oil and found the shavings you see in the picture. The bike is running great but it seems like a lot of metal. I haven't cut open the filter yet, but will shortly. Should I be preparing for tear down, or put oil in and check again in 3000. Product Screw Fastener Brass Household hardware

Yea where in the same boat I found metal on my oil plug 😬 I’m just happy I have a extra engine 😎 I’m going to just hope that it’s going to last for a wile 🤷🏻‍♂️
Normal wear, like from the engagement dogs on the transmission gears, some folks have a heavy shifting foot, especially with an electronic gear shifter!! ...😎

Have you pulled the sump screen and checked it yet?
