Haven't received my bike yet, but I've heard/read that the stock mirrors tend to vibrate and, as a consequence, also fail to retain their set position. I rely heavily on my mirrors to keep a check on what's happening behind me, so this will be one of my first aftermarket purchases.

Was on the Ducati website and found this set of aftermarket mirrors (link and product description):

Black mirror with mini turn indicators
The new mirrors developed by Ducati retain their traditional design with enhanced functionality: in addition to the incorporated flush indicator, these mirrors offer more adjusting options and a broader reflecting surface. The mirror mounts to one of the two holes of the stock fairing for vibration free attachment and will stay put once installed. The kit includes a blanking plug for the unused hole and the necessary mounting hardware.

They don't look any longer, but certainly look better designed.

SP,

The stock mirrors vibrate, but mine have never failed to retain their set position. The problem with the 1098 mirrors is not that they vibrate, (my experience is that all motorcycle mirrors vibrate), but rather, that they show you nothing except your forearm. And for all their vibrating, they have never failed to provide me with this same image.

Vibration

1) You will get more vibration if you are in a gear that is too low. (Basic I know but maybe just a reminder...)

2) I have these and they do not fit on your bike...sorry man.

i see that these mirrors fit on 999. so, it is conceivable that Ducati would offer them for 1098 soon.

cheers.

Sorry. I did a search for superbike accessories, but didn't check to see which bikes applied.

Although my CBR1000RR mirrors were not plagued by vibration, I still had to lift my elbow to get a clear view. I'll just have to ride the bike and see how well they work. Should receive it within the week....Finally.

Fyi

With these mirrors I tuck my elbows in and can see a complete view behind me...opposite of the stock lifting of the elbows.
