It won't crank, gauge needles will not move, have tried all the usual stuff: kick stand down/up, neutral, kill switch off, etc. Have a look at this and let me know your thoughts..I am hoping this does not require a trip to the dealer

Welcome to the forum!

What a strange issue eh? What's up with the left gauge? Why is the speedo indicator all the way on the right instead of lined up to the left at zero where it belongs?

The countdown is related to the immobilizer system. Perhaps the battery has enough current to run the lights, but not enough voltage to run the ECU properly. I'd get a multimeter out and start measuring the battery output terminals and check that you've got proper ground.

Ya the speedo died a long time ago, since then the needle has never sat in the correct position.

I had the battery tested. The battery presented a solid 10V under load...this should be plenty to get the engine to crank...I am concerned that there is no sounds coming from the bike other than the fuel pump. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Nope, 10v = bad battery. It should be 12.5v under load with the bike's ignition turned on. 10V isn't enough to run the ECU.

You my friend have a bad battery.

I'll have it checked again at the batter shop but I just tested and it displayed 14V without load. It should crank over with that much voltage.... another issue is the count down on the rpm and the needles not movin.

With low voltage, the bike will act strange giving you many symptoms.

With the bike turned on, ignition to the on position, it should be giving you roughly 12.5v

The ECU needs a MINIMAL of 11v to run, anything lower and it simply won't work.

So if you put a multi meter on the battery and it reads 10v with everything turned on, the ECU doesn't have enough power to function, henceforth the reason why the gauges don't move and why the countdown is happening.

10-4. I will have the battery tested and take it from there. Thanks for your input.

On a related note, I did find a video on how to re program keys:

I will let you know how I make out with the battery.
