Today I was at the track and in the straight my motorcycle would loose power when I reached 8000-9000 rpm (12000 max).
A few weeks ago I reached max rpm in the same place and the same happened. I assumed then that it was an engine safeguard built into the electronics.
I use the sports setting at dtc level 2.
Any ideas as to what is wrong? Advice?

I think 12,000 is way over the redline for this engine, 9000 is plenty high enough, at 12k you risk damaging it.

Check the oxigen sensors reading. It might send incorrect values to the ecu. It happened to me on my old gsxr 600 k8. It was loosing power at 8000 rpm until it got to 6000 than it got back again.
