Hi members, I am planning to rip the guts out of the standard OEM em mufflers and convert them to a straight through mufflers. Can anyone suggest what packing to use? I would like the end result to be loud but still keep that traditional deep mean exhaust sound.

Why don't You just weld inside a cheap universal straight muffler? Close the original muffle and done. (sorry I don´t know how Your original muffler looks like, so it might or might not work)

Fiberglass will attenuate high frequencies much better than stainless wool will. Most aftermarket pipes use it. Basalt (rock) wool will work even better but is more fragile and won't last as long.

Why would you destroy an OEM part when you could Meguyveer something up like silva said. Lets say you are pulled over for noise and it becomes a 'fix it' ticket?

Why I just unclamp my aftermarket party noise maker, install the OEM back on, run down to the 'check me off' office, I have a bike that's all legal again to ride on the road.

But no, you had to do it your way. LOL
