If you were in the market, what would you choose: Ducati factory top case or aftermarket? Why?

I would go OEM...

The box will have a perfect fit, and will look like it was designed for that particular bike... Just my .02

thats what I'm leaning toward as well but the aftermarket case availability vs. OEM is a strong temptation . . . more than likely I'll keep looking for OEM

I will soon be the happy owner of a brand new 2015 MTS. I will go for the OEM case. Main reason is that I will be able to use only one key for motorcycle and top case. As for the rest, aftermarket would be more or less the same price. In any case, I think the OEM is very likely to be a Givi with Ducati logo.

I have the 2014 Grantorismo which comes with the factory top case. Perfect fit and Givi makes it. But you can't get parts for it from GIVI. Go online and checkout and download the GIVI catalog, they have many different configurations and prices are very good. There is nothing wrong with the stock unit. It's a solid performer plus the key will fit it. If your goal is to add more rear lighting or brake lights for visibility, the GIVI units can be optioned to do just that.

The Ducati top case is nothing fancy... but it does have some features like matched locks that are nice. I'd say just get it unless you find a case that fits your needs better (or is a smoking deal).

Dave_K, that's my intention, trying to find a previously owned one is a challenge I found out. So I'll keep looking until I run across one
