Yep, my 2008 1098 has now stalled 6 times in the first 200 miles :lightning. I thought this was worked out on the 08s, but apparently not . The only thing I can think of is maybe my Termi Slip-On ECU is an old one that isn't fixed??

Its has happened 2 times coasting to a stop in first gear with the clutch leaver pulled in...

Its happened 3 times coasting to a stop in neutral with the clutch released...

Its happened once just sitting at a stop light in neutral and my hands weren't even touching the bars...

Any ideas guys? Do you agree is probably an old Termi ECU?? I am hustling through breakin so I am probably going to wait untill my 600 service to get it checked out (as my dealer is over an hour away), but man am I dissapointed right now... Still a great bike, other than that I love it and it runs strong, but kinda frustrating as I thought this was resolved...

I've had my Tricolore (full system installed at purchase) for one month and 400 miles with no stalling or rough idle. When I bought the bike, the service manager at Southern California Ducati said they check the CO setting at idle because this bike run lean to pass stricter emission standards. He then went on to mention that their dealership has seen very few stalling issues that required a new ECU. So, I say ask your dealer to check the CO setting before going further.

On a side note, years ago, I got one of the first MV Agusta 750 which had similar stalling issues. The CO was the culprit.

Another proof that the 08 is nothing different than the last 07 models, see it this way, after vin #4000 or march 2007 they changed the following to the bike : ECU, Fly Wheel, Starter, Smaller diameter Wheel holder.
It´s just that all bikes made in july 2007 will be 2008 models, updates will be something for 2010 or so I think.
Also, I am confident that you are using a first slip-on ECU, there are updated ones for the slip on. Would be my first try if I had the problem.

My 08 has no problems as of yet. Just got home and the bike has 250 miles on it. I put my bike in N and roll to a stop a lot. I also live where its 105 out. Lots of stop and go traffic in the city.
If I may offer a suggestion. Reset the ECU and ride this bike hard for 50 or so miles. Ive done this with many cars. The ECM takes a little while to learn air/fuel ect. I havent taken it above 8k yet but Im on it pretty hard until I reach 8k.

Correct me if I'm wrong but....you guys did notice he has termi slip-ons.....they come with a non-tunable ECU.....more than likely his slip ons DO NOT have the new termi slip on ecu tuned for non-stallage....thus this has nothing to do with the actual ECU that came with his 08 bike....?

I have had my bike stall like twice in 1600 miles. It did it when rolling to a stop in neutral. That said, my 999s would stall occasionally as well ,usually while stopped at a light in neutral (14,000 miles on it). I would have your dealer contact the regional rep in your area and find out what they say. I do know that when I had my 70mm exhaust installed (Full), Ducati wanted back my stock ECU (They must have wanted to look at these for some reason).

"Racing" only indicate that is has a Termi slip on ECU. Not going to indicate weather it is the new or old version "Slip On" ECU.

Ask the dealer if the DP ecu is a new one. The can call DNA and reference it by it's serial #. It may be new. Mine is and it stalls occasionally and I have 1500mi. Something tells me that it will never stop stalling unless you get an after market ecu with a dyno guy that has been doing this for a lot of years fine tuning it. :ahhh:

I just dont understand how some do and some dont. I have a 08 with aftermarket slip ons with no ecu remapping. Bike runs like a rapped ape and has never stalled. Bike bike is a 08 and smells like pure gas coming out the rear. Its very rich!
