Before I bought my R1 I was heavily looking into the 848/1098/1198 bikes and really wanted to try an Italian twin, well for a variety of reasons I ended up getting a 2005 R1 instead. It's a great bike, absolutely nothing wrong with it except a few paint blemishes matching it's age. It has over $4K in aftermarket parts.

-Full termi titanium and carbon fiber system
-Graves velocity stacks
-BMC air filter
-Tech specSnake skin knee grips
-aftermarket levers,gas cap, bar ends.
-frame sliders (duh)
-quad HIDs and angel eyes made by me

Those are the main things, can't remember what else at the moment, I'll try to update later.

Just curious if there's anyone out there who would possibly be interested in a 1:1 trade. I like the series of ducs I mentioned above but would consider whatever.

Probably $6K? I know the mods don't raise the value as much as I'd like. I would say more like $6500-$7000 if the paint was perfect. If I had enough money I would buy a set of monster fairings, but they're about $600.

I'm totally happy with my R1, I just kind of want to try a V-twin.

Go to one of the Ducati Demo rides and test out the models first. Some people like the Twins, some dont. I came from a GSXR and I love the twin but miss the high reving sound of the inline 4 some times.
Exactly...every bike has its own characteristic, even different Ducatis can feel totally different.

I went from a 998 to an 1199 and the 1199 feels like an inline-4 compared to the grunt of the 998.. Of course, the slight lack of very low end grunt is more than made up by the brutal hit of power at high RPM
