Before I bought my R1 I was heavily looking into the 848/1098/1198 bikes and really wanted to try an Italian twin, well for a variety of reasons I ended up getting a 2005 R1 instead. It's a great bike, absolutely nothing wrong with it except a few paint blemishes matching it's age. It has over $4K in aftermarket parts.

-Full termi titanium and carbon fiber system
-Graves velocity stacks
-BMC air filter
-Tech specSnake skin knee grips
-aftermarket levers,gas cap, bar ends.
-frame sliders (duh)
-quad HIDs and angel eyes made by me

Those are the main things, can't remember what else at the moment, I'll try to update later.

Just curious if there's anyone out there who would possibly be interested in a 1:1 trade. I like the series of ducs I mentioned above but would consider whatever.

What dollar value would you place on your R1?

They are selling for 5500 all day on cl. Some cheaper and some a little more depending on mileage and mods. It is a nice bike but not sure about a straight up trade. 848s start around 7000.

Thanks, I built that garage We had a car port and I closed it in. Could you give me an honest comparison between the two bikes? Are you totally happy with the 848?

What dollar value would you place on your R1?

Probably $6K? I know the mods don't raise the value as much as I'd like. I would say more like $6500-$7000 if the paint was perfect. If I had enough money I would buy a set of monster fairings, but they're about $600.

I'm totally happy with my R1, I just kind of want to try a V-twin.

Exactly...every bike has its own characteristic, even different Ducatis can feel totally different.

I went from a 998 to an 1199 and the 1199 feels like an inline-4 compared to the grunt of the 998.. Of course, the slight lack of very low end grunt is more than made up by the brutal hit of power at high RPM
