Quick recap in case a new member comes across down the road.

Had my bike 4 days, rode it 3 days and it stalled numerous times. 2 out of those times it would NOT start back up. My dealer ended up towing it back to the shop and keeping it for almost three weeks.

I ended up calling DNA to voice my concerns regarding the bike and how long this was taking to get back. To be fair my dealer was already in contact with DNA but I felt that as a customer it would help if I called myself to voice my concerns. At no point did my dealer try to give me excuses they were awesome throughout the entire thing. I would highly recommend them and in fact I have.

I got the bike back and it runs great, just like it should have from day one. Other than one issue the next day in which I had to reset the ECU by pulling the positive on the battery terminal because it wouldnt start at all, it has started and ran just fine. I have Termi slip ons in case anyone is wondering.

As far as I know the fix for my bike was adjustments to the screws and a new ECU. My ECU was bad, not sure if that means hardware or software but I am currently running a stock ECU DNA sent out and the bike runs just fine with it. I'm not sure if extra adjustments had to be made to accomplish this but it runs great. My slip on ECU is back ordered but it should be here next month.

My intent with this post is to help future or prospective 1098 owners know that there is a fix and that it helps calling DNA especially if your dealer is giving you the run around. I know of one other person on this board that had the exact same fix done to their bike and he is very happy as well. They too were having the symptoms I was in the fact that the bike wouldnt start. I do think that 80-90% of the stalling problems are solved through dealer setup but that other 10-20% might take what fixed my bike.

So for those still waiting for your 1098 if you encounter this which I hope you don't, just call DNA to get the ball rolling right from the start. Then you can get to enjoying this machine sooner.

I'm pretty sure that other person was me. I put 300 miles on the bike last weekend and had it in for the 600 mile service. Everything is great. It does pay to contact DNA. Once I had them on the phone things really started to to turn around. The dealer was doing the best they could but it took a complaint from an owner to really kick them into to gear. I hope that all the other people with problem get them fixed as quickly and easily as I did. Thanks Florida Motor Sports and thanks to DNA.

Stalling issue fixed

Using my unpatened fix, here is what we did and why my bike runs flawlessly.

I have the slip ons with the racing (correct factory supplied, not stock) ECU.

1) Make sure the cables on the exhaust valve are connected correctly. Aparently a few bikes have had them reversed. With the slip ons and the slip on ECU it doesn't matter since the valve is always open.

2) Battery voltage and Amperage within spec.

3)Cylinder balance within spec.

4)Reset TPS.

5)Adjust trim to plus 15.

6)Adjust air bleed screws to 3.5% CO.

The trim level for the CO will vary from bike to bike. Basically, if you can not adjust your CO to 3.5% with out adjusting the trim, raise it until you can. If you can adjust CO to 3.5% don't mess with the trim.

7)Install 14 tooth front sprocket. (This had nothing to do with the stalling issue, but since I don't need 179mph I will sacrifice top speed for better pull through the power band.

8)Hang on tight because it will pull the front wheel off the ground in third gear.

9) ride 150 miles, stop once for gas, and experience NO STALLING!!
