After my 900 mile trek over 2 days
i realize i need a chain and sprocket set
that is not as tall as stock
i think i want to go with 15t front and 41t rear
can someone recommend me a brand or combo
please?

Ive read that puts extra strain on the chain...

Maybe marginal?

It was the first thing I did at my 848s first service. It made the bike really come alive. Made the high gears useable, I didn't stall anymore. It made everything better. I didn't think it would make as big a difference as it did. It was the best $35 bucks I've spent on the bike.

ok i used JT sprockets on all my other bikes. Should i get a JT or is there another brand
Dont I need to change the rear as well?

Yes! Change them both. Do not use 14T front.
You neglected to tell us if this is a 749 or 999
Good point. 15/41 is good choice for the 749, but much too low gearing for a 999.

The 999 works well with just a 14-tooth front and stock 36 rear. Yes, the chain tension is increased 7% which could marginally decrease the service life of the chain — simply don't combine a 14-tooth front with a less durable and ofter weaker 520 chain.

Its a 2004 999. Its way too tall as is. So 15/t 39/t ?

Ok so jt sprockets and DID chain? I need a good set and im still waiting to hear which
