Im looking into buying a rear stand, i have read all posts about stands going back to December, but there were a few things that i have questions about.
I can see that the majority of owners prefer the Pit bull, but other than being reversible what advantage does it have over the ducati stand? the ducati stand has bearings like the PB stand. price isn't an issue, the DP stand is $142, and the PB is $169, so there not much of a difference there.
I tried out a PB stand (the non reversible one) at my dealer, and while it looked nice and lifted the bike fine, and seamed sturdy, i felt that there wasn't much of an area to grip the bar while lifting the bike up or bringing it down, since the end of the bar rests on the ground. The rear of the ducati stand is raised off the ground which seems like it would be easier to lift. (i have not tried the DP stand)
While a reversible stand would be nice to have, the main reason im buying it is for cleaning / lubing the chain, oil changes and winter storage, nothing major. So why did you buy the PB over the DP or vice versa? the guy at the dealer said the PB's were the best stands around but could not explain why. Im not opposed to either brand i just want to know why everyone seems to prefer the PB stand other than being reversible. There wasn't much feed back in the other posts from people who own the DP stands so my question for the guys who have them is what do you think of the stands front and rear.
i would like to buy a front stand by the end of the year mainly for storage and cleaning the wheel, so i would only need the basic front stand that mounts to the bottom of the fork, how sturdy are these front stands?
I'm a little surprised that the pins on these rear stands don't even go half way through the axle, wouldn't it be a better idea if the pins went all the way through and had a safety clip on the other end?
If any of you guys can give me you insight on the stands and post some pictures of you bikes on a DP or a PB stand front and rear i would appreciate it. I would really like to see a close up on the front stand where the stand comes in contact with the bottom of the fork.
thanks
