Hey all,

First time ducati owner here! Picked up my 821 dark about three weeks ago and couldn't be happier with it. I'm approaching my first service and after reading most of the posts on here it looks like i might do the exhaust while i'm at it. I only hesitate because the stock exhaust sounds beautiful especially idling and downshifting. I'm looking for a little input regarding the 2 termignoni systems for the bike. Do they change the sound or just amplify it? What is the main difference between the two? Any real performance gains?

Thanks,

Dan

I know I'm in the VAST minority here (and I am talking about a 1200 not an 821) but I'll add this for whatever it may or may not be worth. My stock exhaust sounds great. It's more than loud enough and most importantly it absolutely sounds like a Ducati. I honestly love the sound and don't want it to be any different. That not to mention I ride with ear plugs and the CHiP crew seems to be hell bent on finding reasons to pull me over. Loud pipes wouldn't mitigate that problem.

As far as folks moving to a $1700.00 Termignomi exhaust because there is some real or perceived "performance" difference I'm utterly nowhere near the bikes capabilities as is. If I'm honest with myself I'll increase my performance by increasing my skill.

I'd take that $1700.00 and invest in a track day or two....or three.

Termignoni Exhaust has always been the best match for an after market exhaust for Ducati's.
I do agree on JosephHanna that it is way over priced! You really just gain cosmetic, slight peformance gains if any and for most cases people get it for the SOUND! Anyways, i had put one on mine too since day one and really enjoyed how it sounds over the stock. Deeper and feels by all means powerful angry monster when your rev hits above 6k! I just love it! Its up to any individual to decide to get it for that reason and of course if you have the extra money! Lol!

Diffidently over priced but worth every penny :)

Like everyone's said the sound give's the bike a new personality.. I wish i added it after the break in because it was very hard for me to keep it under 6k during the break in process.

No race in sequence?

Hey all,

I decided to go with the race termis, man do they sound amazing. I thought stock pipes sounded mean but this thing really growls. I did notice that "race" does not display during the start up sequence as I've seen on others here. I asked the techs and mechanics about it and they told me it doesn't do that on the 821. I showed them pictures of other 821s on here and they still said the same thing. He even plugged it in and remapped again for me while I was at the shop. Any thoughts? Is there a special way to map these things that they aren't aware of? They had told me this was one of the first termis they put on the 821.

Thanks

I took this picture of my 821dark's dash from the startup sequence so everyone can see that. It definitely says "RACE" on the startup sequence!
I would insist of having that done if I were you.
