New front brake lever, with better feel !

So, I never liked the feel or action of the stock front brake lever. Even though it had the "trick for it's time" remote adjuster on the opposite H/bar. All the adjuster does (on this bike) is take the free play out, but it has no adjustment for lever position. So for me, the lever always felt, too far out from the H/bar..... (I like it closer, so you can use 1 or 2 fingers).

The lever used on my Superleggera is similar but different. The remote adjuster actually moves the lever position in and out with a wide range of distance available !

So I swapped the lever over to try it out and it works perfectly. You also have to use the little plunger "dowel" pin (see attached picture) from the SL to make it work because that is different too.
Now it works like (I think) Ducati originally wanted...

I just ordered a new lever to replace the one I robbed from my SL, so I don't know (yet) if it comes with the dowel pin thingy. The lever is expensive ($350) but it also enables the use of 3 different pivot points 19/20/21 similar to the RCS series, but this lever is called a MCS.

There are defiantly cheaper ways around this problem, like replacing the whole Master cylinder with something else, but this uses OEM Ducati parts !

Why not go all the way, and get the billet one of those... nice !
But in the meantime,
Here is the range it now gives you.

I'm really trying not to modify this Desmo too much as stock seems to be the preferred route......if i where ever to sell.......but every component I look at needs changing to bring it in line......I love the bike for its character but I have to ask the question.....what did the extra money this bike cost give me.....??

At least I can strike it of the list of wanted bikes...!

I've been riding my ZX10 today at Oulton Park and it does everything I want every session always starts and is rip your face off fast.....

The Desmo is not for the track....I'm going to put it back to the road or even back in the Hall Way...!
I'm told the clutch I have just replaced came from a 748.....surely thats badly specified from Ducati.....the suspension was also badly specified......the wrong diameter rims.....I've also had problems with the master cylinder on the front brakes....

If you can't change down properly......turn the bike.....or stop with out mods on a bike like this....I'm nearly over my very short lived second visit to Ducati ownership......

Josema,
Have you fit these to your desmo ?
I have one of the billet ones (same dimensions as above) on my 250GP bike, and although I haven't tried to mount it, it looks like there may be clearance issues, (Inside fairing, lock to lock ?)
Anybody ??
Thanks,
