Are there any other importers for Ducati in Australia? I am pretty sure there isn't and I am not all that happy with their efforts and the outrageous costs they charge us.
I put my bike in for a minor service and I have been told it is time to replace some fairly worn rockers (5 of em) on my 748...and they will cost me $300 each. I have also been told it'll take up to three weeks to get em in the country as there aren't enough for me to replace the ones I have to.

Upon doing a bit of searching I find worn rockers seem to be a bit of a common problem with 748's, so I suck it up and get it done. In my research I also find out that in the US a rocker will set you back $48. If this is such a common problem with those bikes why Mr Fraser do you not see it necessary to carry a decent stock of em? A little birdy also told me of a store that has more than a weeks worth of work on bikes waiting for Mr Fraser to pull his finger out and get parts so that work can be done.

Pull your finger out Mr Fraser and get some decent stock.

Dazza - I here ya man! I hate monopolies with a passion too! They bend ya over a barrell and have their wicked way with us I reckon.
I'd say those US prices you talk of are probably for re-surfaced customer supplied rockers, just a guess. Surely your dealer, obviously not NFI, could lead you in the right direction for something other than OEM. As you said it has been relatively common and surely others have found another way. I had a quick scan of the Vee Two website and nothing there it seems. Get on the blower and ask around.
50k+ km isn't a bad run I guess. Have you had it since new? Let me guess, all gone in the vertical cyl and one intake on the front?
Boycott the bastards and go somewhere else if you can.

Trust me man, if I could avoid using them I would. Any parts bought into the country will come in via Frasers, whether I use a non Frasers shop or not, so they get their dirty little nippers on it no matter what.

I have had the bike since Sept 06 with 40000k's and have put 15500k's on it in that time. So yeah it has done quite a few miles, more than most.

From what I found the resurfaced rockers were actually more expensive than the Ducati supplied ones, iirc it was about $80US for a resurfaced one. Ducati dropped the price as a gesture of goodwill due to the flaking rockers.

Part has arrived in the country and now the bike is back on the list of ones to fix at the shop, happy days. :) I think that makes it a bit over a week to get the part into the country. Not too bad I guess.

Wilson, who do you get your parts from in the US?

Dude get all your work done a Ducati Penrith they are a smaller non franchise dealer and really look after you and i really doubt they get their shite through Fraser's as everything i have bought including service is much cheaper. Definitely worth a look and trip out for a chat.
P.S i don't work there either.

enjoying the palatial extravagence

we here in oz were very fortunate to get plenty of ducatis over the many years, this has left us with plenty of ducati gurus in all cities and even country towns, people who have lived and breathed ducati for many many years, so find them, get a good one, stick to them and you will find none of them have a "closed workshop" its only big companies htat have apprentice mechanics working on your pride n joy, really blokes you wouldn"t even let check your tire pressure let alone replace rockers and do your valve clearences.( it is here where the true meaning of N F I is actually put into place) not to mention being paid a pitance and being charged out at extreme rates. but i always feel like a real biker going into frasers the polished floors the cappuchino machines the vittoria coffee umbrellas the clean cut nice smelling gentleman who smoothly walk over to greet you, the ducati performance tea strainers, as long as whatever i buy comes in a ducati performane box i really dont care about the price, its all about how clean a showroom floor can be kept, thats what it all comes down to.
